Dominique Ansari’s Runway Show At VFW

Dominique Ansari’s Runway Show At VFW

Privet everyone ! Sigh, I was lucky that I was able to have front row seats for all of the runway shows that took place on way back on Saturday (March 19th), simply because 1) My feet in my Philip Lim heels remained happy, and 2) because it let me take photos of the designers collections without peoples heads and shoulders getting in the way! I also enjoyed seeing a lot of the evening collections because I don’t have a reason to invest in evening wear, but I find the fantasy to be irresistible. (but that’s an entirely different story) Continue reading “Dominique Ansari’s Runway Show At VFW”

Danny Reinke’s ‘Let’s Get Lost’ Collection At VFW & Mini Interview

Danny Reinke’s ‘Let’s Get Lost’ Collection At VFW & Mini Interview

Hey Everyone! There was one show that everyone seemed to feel a sense of nostalgia for at Vancouver Fashion Week. Envision coats with teddy bears attached, to whimsical skirts that channel all of your favourite childhood memories. Danny Reinke was one of the designers who showed off his collection “Let’s Get Lost” at Vancouver Fashion Week’s Runway. (Danny Reinke also was one of the participant designers with Elephantasia.)Danny is a designer based in Berlin, Germany, who grew up in the small fishing village of  Mönkebude, Near the Baltic Sea. His home has been the source inspiration for his past collections, making him aware of nature, and the importance of sustainability.

I wasn’t able to sit down with Danny Reinke, but decided to email him for a mini interview to discuss the collection I saw on the VFW runway. I threw a few questions his way that discuss how inspiration finds him, his eco conscious attitude, and he also answered one of my readers questions. He often works with recycled fabrics which lead him to developing Danny Upcycling, and is actively involved in raising awareness for causes- including the protection of Africa’s wild animals. So don’t forget to check out the interview & the photos I took from front row at Vancouver Fashion Week Fall Winter 2016!

Elephantasia “Fighting With Fashion” At VFW 2016

Elephantasia “Fighting With Fashion” At VFW 2016

This season Vancouver Fashion Week had more shows that focused around sustainability. Elephantasia was a unique experience that intended to show us that we need to be aware of what’s going on in our world. That we can’t forget that we’re not the only ones who inhabit the earth, and that sometimes our greed can have detrimental effects on the creatures who share, and inhabit the world with us.

The runway was transformed by tribal drumming that grabbed the audiences attention, along with powerful imagery, presentations, guest speaker Dr.Jake Wall, and outfits designed by numerous fashion designers who feel equally passionate towards putting an end to the illegal poaching, and harvesting of ivory from African and Asian elephants. Designers were inspired by just about everything there is to this majestic land mammal. While models furthered the mood by wearing haunting, tribal themed makeup. Introducing Vancouver Fashion Week Fall Winter 2016

Introducing Vancouver Fashion Week Fall Winter 2016

Privet Everyone! Wow, I’m feeling a little overwhelmed from all of the images from Fashion Week, but I’m almost done editing all of them! I’m also working on putting in content to make the posts come together. I’m sure you also might have noticed that I actually finished one post and put it up ASAP, and that was for Noe Bernacelli since I was so excited to share his collection with you. I was also happy that I got to sit in front row for his show, it was foot friendly, and a little bit easier to snap all of the photos I needed to get for you.   Continue reading “Introducing Vancouver Fashion Week Fall Winter 2016”

Noe Bernacelli 7.2.7 Haute Couture F/W 2016 At VFW

Noe Bernacelli 7.2.7 Haute Couture F/W 2016 At VFW

Hey Everyone! I hope you have all been well and that you can’t wait to see what the designers at VFW 2016 were dazzling audiences with. Some of you might know that I’ve been anticipating Noe Bernacelli’s show this season! He is a Peruvian designer who studied in Italy.  I’m currently working on close to 17 posts that will be featuring the designers who showcased their collections  at Vancouver Fashion Week this season, and who’s shows I attended. I also couldn’t resist putting up this post about Noe’s collection because I’ve been so excited to share what I got to see last week, with all of you.

I became an instant fan of his designs at VFW F/W 2015 when I saw his floor length evening gowns that were sheer in all the right places. I felt as though he was channeling Elie Saab, and to see gowns with an incredible amount of detail in person, stole my breath away. This season Noe Bernacelli didn’t disappoint (although I miss seeing those evening gowns), with his 7.2.7 collection that lead him in a new direction that can be described as modern, while embodying the daring female spirit. Part 3: Vancouver Fashion Week Backstage

Part 3: Vancouver Fashion Week Backstage

Privet Matryoshkas! This is the last post about VFW for the fall/winter 2015 showcase! This post is all about covering behind the scenes, to show you a glimpse of what it looks like behind the runway. Expect to see shoes laying everywhere, and racks of clothing just waiting to be worn by the models before the audience sees. Backstage is also the place where you can talk to the designers, and watch how they prepare for their runway debuts.

Part 2: Vancouver Fashion Week Guests & Gifts

Part 2: Vancouver Fashion Week Guests & Gifts

Privet lovely Matryoshkas, are you ready for part 2 of VFW? As you know it cannot be a true fashion week without seeing at least some of the attending guests outfits. So in short this post is dedicated to the guests and also to the giveaways/ freebies. The event was sponsored by My Skye Berry Pie and they gave out gifts throughout the week. I got a cute little gift box from them that included a pineapple bath bomb, a vegan lipgloss, chapstick, gift certificates and discounts to local shops. So that kind of was nice to receive! Anyways as some of you may know my best friend came with me to two consecutive days at VFW pretending to be my “assistant” haha, and my boyfriend attended the event with me also on two seperate occassions and he posed as my “photographer”. So for when me and my best friend went it felt like a girls night mixed with a fashion night out vibe, we dressed up and on we went to enjoy this rare Vancouver event. Part 1: Vancouver Fashion Week Front Row

Part 1: Vancouver Fashion Week Front Row

Privet!! Ah Matryoshkas I don’t even know where to begin, other than to tell you that I’ve had my first fashion week experience! I attended the event with a media pass which gave me access to some of the best seats (although me and my best friend had to hustle to get them, but the media pass let us keep them!!), and backstage access to see behind the scenes. My Media pass came from Wall Street International (who I write for once a month for the fashion section and my VFW article will be published on April 1st so check that out if you want to) I’m thankful to WSI and to Milica Mirkovic (my past editor & If you are reading this Thank you!!) Anyways before I find some way to go off topic, I ended up sitting through 23 shows at Vancouver Fashion Week, and my camera and phone are full of photos! I’ve decided to split my VFW experience into parts to make things less messy, and a lot more organized so I hope you guys will enjoy the upcoming posts. Today’s post will be about some of the memorable shows, with a mini bio of each designer, links and brief description. I also must apologize to you guys since there were no Russian or Ukrainian fashion designers at VFW! But one of the fashion designers, Atsushi Nakashima named his collection after the famous Russian satellite Sputnik,– I love the Russian influence 🙂
