Some of you may be familiar with the beginnings of the Zaychishka blog, and how often I reported on the Russian fashion elite, to collections made by Russian Fashion Designers. One name some of you may recognize is Ulyana Sergeenko, who has been featured on this blog over the years along with Miroslava Duma, Elena Perminova, Vika Gazinskaya and Anya Ziourova. This stylish quintet of women was often referred to as the Russian Mafia, or the Russian ‘it’ girls for their incredible sense of style. Ulyana was known back then for her love of the vintage style, and every fashion week she would serve us looks that would take us on a journey back in time. When Ulyana opened her label in April of 2011 in Moscow Russia, it came as no surprise to see her base her collections on her own personal style, and passion for antiques and vintage themes. When I look at Lana Siberie’s Foundation SS 2014 collection my thoughts are instantly transported to the top of the Acropolis, with the worn marble at my feet- but don’t consider this collection to be an ode to Greece in any way, that is just one of my old traveling memories re-surfacing. The jacquard technique, and the pattern of each sweater embodies a natural look of stone, to heavy slabs of marble. A look that only the bold and fierce could pull off. And inspired by Iulia’s childhood growing up close to the Mir mine. Recently I had the pleasure of interviewing Iulia Filipovscaia the designer of the label LANA SIBERIE, I wanted to incorporate her collections into that post but it turned out to be so long, so here is part two.

Valentin Yudashkin started off his career by dressing the wives of the Kremlin, notably Raisa Gorbachev the wife of the former soviet leader Mikhail Gorbachev. By 1991 Valentin’s name began to grow famous outside of Russia when his collection Fabrege was featured at Paris fashion week in 1991.
