This year The Gen Z regime, different decades, and a television show are influencing this year’s style trends. I will admit that I did binge-watch Bridgerton the moment it popped up on Netflix and enjoyed the exaggerated and embellished clothing inspired by the late 18th (1776- 1830) century. Let me tell you that I saw so many critiques on the clothing, especially regarding the fact that corsets were not worn at all back then. This, of course, would make sense when the dresses from this time period did not put great emphasis on women’s waistlines. However, does it really matter when the show never claimed to be historically accurate? It was aesthetically pleasing to the eyes, and right now we need a little bit of a visual treat when we either see the interior of our homes or the grocery store. Bridgerton has sparked this desire for romanticism re-imagined in our spring style line-up, thus Regenceycore is now a thing. Many fashion designers have been rolling out dresses that feature the wide neckline, puff sleeves and use of the fabric organza. Rebecca Taylor is even producing a modern twist to the style with this Organza Check Dress that I came across this morning.Continue reading “Critiquing 2021s Fashion Trends: Middle Parts, 70’s/90’s Mishmash, and Bridgerton”
The summer of 2015 had kicked off the return of the ‘crocs’ that tied into that whole normcore trend, amid other ugly footwear abominations. This summer the ugly shoe is making a stronger return, and it’s the unfashionable that is now becoming fashionable at least when the shoe world is concerned. Que the Birkenstock movement, But not only are Birkenstocks paving the way for uglier than usual shoe trends, it’s the fact that people don’t want to shell out big bucks for summer sandal. And who can blame a person for not wanting to spend a lot of cash on a seasonal favourite. And, although I love to save money and buy everything on sale..you still will not catch me in a pair of crocs, clogs, lucite heels or even boudoir mules. Clarks? forget it, I’ll stick to my summer favourite my Zigi Soho caged sandals..until they need to be retired to the trash bin. Comfort is also another alluring factor to these sole creations..making it easy to see why they are so popular. (However Birkenstocks aren’t cheap either at 100 a pop, but still entice those who are used to spending 1200+ on sandals)

Hey Everyone! I hope you are all having a wonderful week! Well I’ve been going out for coffee a lot lately, and one of my go to looks for enjoying coffee involves ‘athlesiure wear’. No it doesn’t involve lululemon yoga pants, or wearing sports bras instead of a cropped top (although I love my neon nike sports bra). Instead I love to mix and match different things from my wardrobe that involve faux leather sleeves, shift dresses, pantyhose, leggings and runners. I also should confess that I love grays and blacks…I sometimes have an obsession with buying all gray pieces and then end up complaining in the summer that my clothing isn’t ‘colourful’ enough. Who else has the same problem?
Anyways it might be summer at the moment but this week in British columbia I’ve had to turn the heat on in my house, the next day the AC, and well the weather is rather unpredictable with it’s mix of hot and cool. So before I officially say goodbye to fall and winter wardrobe pieces I thought I’d wear one of my favourite looks for the last time. Before it gets too hot! The look involves 3 pieces (4 if you include the attitude; and a stupid smile).
Hello Everyone, Happy Trending Tuesday! I have a lovely new addition to my always expanding, and never ending wardrobe and that is:. A pair of denim shorts with ultra femme details of lace.(a gift from le boyfriend, who has been spoiling me lately- more about that in the next post). I think it’s safe to say that the majority of us own a pair of denim shorts. I often enjoy styling mine with oversized sweaters, a look that reminds me of something you’d wear in Martha’s Vineyard in the America or Laguna beach..something like that. I also love that look of a basic white T, and doing the whole High Low look with jean shorts. Continue reading “Trending Tuesday: Denim Shorts”
Hey Everyone it’s time for a Trending Tuesday post! I’ve realized that I haven’t given accessories all that much love on my blog. So if you happen to love sunglasses, and you’re an optical gal this post is for you, and how you can ‘eyeccessorize’ for the summer with all the latest sunglass trends. Sunglasses, shades or sunnies of any kind are one of those accessories that contribute a lot to the world of fashion- like allowing celebrities to magically go ‘incognito’ the moment the shades come on to hide from the paparazzo. Or how else would Karl Lagerfeld keep his ‘vortex’ for eyes a secret from all of us? And here’s the real miracle worker..sunglasses can conceal our dark circles and bloodshot eyes from a heavy night of partying the best. Hey Everyone! Sorry for my mini absence from the blog-o-sphere, I’m back and ready to blog. Let’s begin with a Trending Tuesday post! There is one “trend” that is my absolute favourite to wear and style when the climate begins to soar and the sunshine is in abundance. Ahem, that is wearing white in the summer. I used to hear stories about how in Europe there would be ‘summer of white parties’ where everyone wears white clothing, and parties until dawn. If I give it some serious thought, I too wore white during my European travels. I had one dress in particular that could transform amidst the scenery and landscapes of Vienna, Rome, and throughout the cities of Greece, yielding some of my favourite pictures. So, maybe wearing white in the summer holds a bit of nostalgia in my mind, and I’m being a little biased towards this hot, and always a favourite summer trend. Well that and I recently bought a new dress for the summer that is in this trendy shade, it’s lacey with a slip underneath..which means it could probably even serve as a beach cover up. Hey Everyone, Happy Tuesday. We’ve survived through another Monday, it’s spring time and to top it all off it’s another edition of Trending Tuesday over here on the Zaychishka Style Blog. I’ve decided to make this TT about that off the shoulder look that you might be seeing more of now that the warmer weather is chasing away the last chill of winter’s breathe. The off the shoulder look is tres retro, and some are saying that this look has made it out of the revolving trend graveyard, becoming a fashion staple. The off the shoulder look can be suited to fit anyones needs regardless of style or taste. Just have a look for yourself. Happy Trending Tuesday! Today I’m introducing to you a trend that is making a triumphant return from the 90’s. Some might say it’s making a cool style refresh comeback, while others will be sharing the exact same thought as Zaychishka, it’s hiiideeeousss burn it with fire. What’s this trend I’m speaking of? It’s the Flatform! Flatforms can only be described as being something that a designer whipped up while drunk one night with Elmers glue in hand, and glued a pair of flats onto platforms. I’m also sure this alleged designer laughed to themselves and said “YES, I can make ugly things and people will buy this and they’ll tell all their friends it’s all the rage this season” Way to go whoever you are, you did it. Flatforms are back. Continue reading “Trending Tuesday: The Flatform *90’s Style Returns*”
Hey Everyone, I hope your week has been off to a great start! Today I’m putting up a new Trending Tuesday post, this time it’s about the kimono jacket trend that’s been popping up everywhere. A lot of designers from Anna Sui, Delpozo to DKNY have been rolling out their renditions of the Kimono. I’ll admit that kimonos aren’t always the easiest item to work into an outfit, but once you do they can be worth it. I hope this short & sweet post can inspire ! In addition I’ve selected my favourite kimono-esque jackets out there that I found to be unique, with my favourite being by the Spanish label Delpozo.
