Privet everyone ! Sigh, I was lucky that I was able to have front row seats for all of the runway shows that took place on way back on Saturday (March 19th), simply because 1) My feet in my Philip Lim heels remained happy, and 2) because it let me take photos of the designers collections without peoples heads and shoulders getting in the way! I also enjoyed seeing a lot of the evening collections because I don’t have a reason to invest in evening wear, but I find the fantasy to be irresistible. (but that’s an entirely different story) Continue reading “Dominique Ansari’s Runway Show At VFW”
Privet Everyone! It’s finally spring time which means the flowers will begin blooming, and there will be new styles to obsess over. To celebrate spring I’m thinking that this show I saw at Vancouver Fashion Week suits the new season perfectly. Elina Ten’s Eco Couture Collection is all about florals. The clothing reminded me of a fantasy world, where the outfits would be seen on women attending a debutante afternoon tea party. Can you imagine those tea parties during the Edwardian and Gilded age? And the scandals women would discuss? These days it would be all about booty size. Continue reading “Elina Ten’s Eco Couture ‘ INsideOUT UPsideDOWN.’ At VFW 2016”
Hey Everyone I hope you’re enjoying all of the Vancouver Fashion Week collections that I’ve been adding! I know I took a lot of photos, and I still have quite a few more runway collections to show you. Today this VFW 2016 edition post is about Danya Weevers collection “The Power Of Women”. Danya Weever’s is a fashion designer from the Netherlands, who was inspired by her internships at Elsien Gringhuis and Dennis Diem. Her collections are often presented twice a year online, and this year at Vancouver Fashion Week. Danya’s designs can be described as minimalistic, while she acquires further inspiration from the human being- of their purity, or vulnerability…she’s even encouraged women to write in a diary and expose who they are on the inside to her, this is just one of the many ways Danya proves to be a Designer who wants her clothing to reflect who we are. Hey Everyone! There was one show that everyone seemed to feel a sense of nostalgia for at Vancouver Fashion Week. Envision coats with teddy bears attached, to whimsical skirts that channel all of your favourite childhood memories. Danny Reinke was one of the designers who showed off his collection “Let’s Get Lost” at Vancouver Fashion Week’s Runway. (Danny Reinke also was one of the participant designers with Elephantasia.)Danny is a designer based in Berlin, Germany, who grew up in the small fishing village of Mönkebude, Near the Baltic Sea. His home has been the source inspiration for his past collections, making him aware of nature, and the importance of sustainability.
I wasn’t able to sit down with Danny Reinke, but decided to email him for a mini interview to discuss the collection I saw on the VFW runway. I threw a few questions his way that discuss how inspiration finds him, his eco conscious attitude, and he also answered one of my readers questions. He often works with recycled fabrics which lead him to developing Danny Upcycling, and is actively involved in raising awareness for causes- including the protection of Africa’s wild animals. So don’t forget to check out the interview & the photos I took from front row at Vancouver Fashion Week Fall Winter 2016!
Hey lovelies, I hope you’re enjoying your day so far! So everyone knows that it’s not fashion week without alcoholic beverages right? Let’s just say that TFORTHREE nailed with their M.I.T collection and show. TFORTHREE (Tx3) is a contemporary brand from Italy that cultivates young and talented fashion designers, currently Guilia Geromel, Michele Cadelano, Katharina Purkarthofer, Tsu Yao Wang, Irene Silvestri, Simone Galofaro, and Stefano Lo Muzio are the leading designers for the label. This season Vancouver Fashion Week had more shows that focused around sustainability. Elephantasia was a unique experience that intended to show us that we need to be aware of what’s going on in our world. That we can’t forget that we’re not the only ones who inhabit the earth, and that sometimes our greed can have detrimental effects on the creatures who share, and inhabit the world with us.
The runway was transformed by tribal drumming that grabbed the audiences attention, along with powerful imagery, presentations, guest speaker Dr.Jake Wall, and outfits designed by numerous fashion designers who feel equally passionate towards putting an end to the illegal poaching, and harvesting of ivory from African and Asian elephants. Designers were inspired by just about everything there is to this majestic land mammal. While models furthered the mood by wearing haunting, tribal themed makeup. Privet Everyone! Wow, I’m feeling a little overwhelmed from all of the images from Fashion Week, but I’m almost done editing all of them! I’m also working on putting in content to make the posts come together. I’m sure you also might have noticed that I actually finished one post and put it up ASAP, and that was for Noe Bernacelli since I was so excited to share his collection with you. I was also happy that I got to sit in front row for his show, it was foot friendly, and a little bit easier to snap all of the photos I needed to get for you. Hey Everyone! I hope you have all been well and that you can’t wait to see what the designers at VFW 2016 were dazzling audiences with. Some of you might know that I’ve been anticipating Noe Bernacelli’s show this season! He is a Peruvian designer who studied in Italy. I’m currently working on close to 17 posts that will be featuring the designers who showcased their collections at Vancouver Fashion Week this season, and who’s shows I attended. I also couldn’t resist putting up this post about Noe’s collection because I’ve been so excited to share what I got to see last week, with all of you.
I became an instant fan of his designs at VFW F/W 2015 when I saw his floor length evening gowns that were sheer in all the right places. I felt as though he was channeling Elie Saab, and to see gowns with an incredible amount of detail in person, stole my breath away. This season Noe Bernacelli didn’t disappoint (although I miss seeing those evening gowns), with his 7.2.7 collection that lead him in a new direction that can be described as modern, while embodying the daring female spirit. Last time I attended fashion week I took images from the runway, interviewed a few designers; but this season I want to do things that you would love to read and see!
