Happy Easter Everyone! I went for a walk the previous day and took the Nikon D3300 out with me. I found all of these daffodils popping up along the way, and had to take these photos as proof that spring is on the way. Some of you might be celebrating Easter today, and I would like to wish you all a Happy Easter!! I celebrate two Easters. I’m catholic, while my boyfriend is Russian orthodox- and as his dad would put it “If you miss one holiday, you still have Orthodox Christmas, New Years, Easter and so forth” Funny and true words.
I anticipate attending Russian Orthodox church, because it’s new to me. There’s only one part that I enjoy and that is to see everyone lining the street outside of the church, with baskets full of Pashalniy Kulich, breads, wines – and candles to illuminate the area, waiting for the priest to bless their baskets. I find it to be one of those sights that is beautiful, candles, people and traditions from Russia. I don’t get to participate in easter egg hunts anymore, so this is what I look forward too now. Who else misses Easter from their childhood?

Hey Everyone & Matryoshkas!! 🙂 I’ve decided to try a little DIY that was easy and re-freshed my heels. To be honest there wan’t anything wrong with my heels to begin with, I just wanted a new shoe without the cost. I mentioned earlier this week that I’ll be attending Fashion Week, and I’ve decided to try to work these shoes into one of my outfits. I’m thinking of pairing them with a dress I bought on sale for the Gala! I’m trying to go into Fashion Week with items that come from the sale/clearance rack, with the addition of this little DIY. I also hope to post photos of each of my looks with the prices included! I want to prove that you can look stylish on a budget 🙂

Long time ago when I first became interested in beauty and skin care products, I suffered an allergic reaction. It began the night before High school picture day, and I was determined to look my best! I mean I wanted to look incredible, and have a photo I would be proud of in years to come. Somehow I thought it would be wise to start using an entire fleet of skincare products, combined with natural home remedies with items that came from my refrigerator. I grabbed some papaya, and mixed it with some other ingredients (that I’ve long forgotten, and with good reason), and thought “hey, let me make a home made face mask” that’s a great idea! Hey everyone! I just want to wish all of you a happy holidays! I guess I will just say that you should take this time to enjoy memories, and moments with those you love! This year it’s my house that will be hosting Christmas dinner amongst family. So I decided to try out two new recipes that will act as side dishes. One recipe is a unique twist on stuffing. It has Kale, bread, chorizo and apples. While the second little recipe is all about Pita bread, olives, sliced almonds, asiago cheese and a hint of basil pesto. If these recipes turn out to be a crowd pleasure I will have to share them with you! (I did cook them in advance, and I think they’re delicious!) Anyways happy holidays once again! In the meantime here are a few Christmas inspired photos I couldn’t resist taking in the malls, and in my home. Continue reading “Happy Holidays To You All”
Well I think we’ve all had that moment where we’ve dreaded packing for flights, especially whenever carry ons are concerned. Not only are there weight restrictions- but we’re limited with the personal items that we can bring. Liquids are a basic no-no unless under 100Ml, and can fit into a clear plastic bag ( just leave that Evian face spray at home girl!). While nail clippers, you better put that item in your checked luggage- but then again can you imagine someone clipping their toe nails mid flight next to you? Gross!. But there is one item that I wouldn’t have imagined as being considered a flight risk. I was watching the local news, and it showed items that the Canadian border security confinscates often- ranging from the usual liquids, alcohol, meats- etc. But then I saw an item, that anyone of us might not be aware of that can’t go in your carry on- because it’s apparently dangerous! & the Canadian border security will take this item away from you, and they won’t even care about the price tag. You’ve guessed it!, I love to shop (typical, right?). I’m going to start off by saying that I’ve had my fare share of memorable shopping adventures all over the world…and in today’s post I’m listing my top 10 favourite places across the globe that I found to be some of the hottest places to shop. By the way this list doesn’t include New York, Milan or Paris, So this isn’t a list you’d expect…and I’ve included my own photos that I took on my travels! I wasn’t the best photographer back then, and I can honestly say that I’ve improved since!

As a little girl I had barbies, they had their own home, jeep, horses you name it my barbies had it..including inflatable furniture. There was one barbie I had that I envied, she had gorgeous long, silky blond hair and a wardrobe that I wished wasn’t so miniature. I named her Cher after the character in the Clueless tv series (not the movie), because she was the epitome of cool, she was stylish, and every ken doll had a crush on her. But I never for a moment wished to grow up, and look exactly like my barbie doll, let alone become a living barbie.
Most of you might be familiar with Valeria Lukyanova, she is the original Russian barbie (she’s technically Ukrainian), known for her abnormal slender waist, theatrical eyes, and spiritual views. However, she is not the only one who holds the title of having a doll-like appearance, in fact there are a few other women who are competing for the same title. Yep..this post will get a little creepy. Continue reading “Real Life Russian Barbie Dolls”
Privet everyone! Last weekend was my cousin’s bridal shower, and I managed to wake up at 6am to get ready, which included the routine of putting in my extensions, putting on a full face of makeup, and bringing out the Valentinos. In my attempt to sheer a few extra minutes off getting ready in the morning I decided to curl my extensions with a hot roller set the previous night (Every minute counts in the morning!!). I then left to get to the venue which was held at a local golf course- and luckily I made it on time! I took quite a few photos, some I’m going to share here just in case some bride to be’s are looking for some inspiration for their own bridal shower. I also must say that my aunt did an amazing job at pulling off the special occasion, the venue and food served for the brunch portion was incredible. Of course all of the women who attended brought a mountain of delectable desserts, including some traditional Italian cookies. I loaded my plate up with crepes, eggs, sausages, everything! with some champagne too 🙂

There is so much on the internet dedicated to shoe porn reminding us that we each have a Carrie Bradshaw hidden within us, and some of us like to live by Marilyn Monoroe’s famous saying of “Give a girl the right shoes, and she can conquer the world”. It’s hard to understand how shoes of all things can have such an impact on us. Men even get sucked into the allure of high heels, and they love their women in them. It’s just something so strange, but something we love, and want more of. It’s also perfectly acceptable to believe that there is no such thing as owning too many pairs of shoes. So matryoshkas today’s post will involve a little bit of the Italian in me, starting with a gift my mother gave to me recently and that is a pair of Italian designed shoes, by Valentino Garavani. If you’ve seen my instagram account lately then you already know that I now have Valentino Rockstud fever!!

Privet! I’ve finally made my Instagram account public in the past week. I started to put up some photos, so it’s kind of a sad instagram page at the moment. I thought it would be an idea I could easily commit to, and that is sharing photos that I take with my phones camera that are unique, pretty or unusual in my eyes (and such might not always have a place on my blog, but would be perfect for instagram + it could be something fun to share) My instagram was only ever used to keep up with all of the latest Russian and fashion news so that’s why it’s lacking in photos. Of course some old images will surface as well that have been featured on my blog. So there now you have one more personal layer to see of who I am (Zaychishka/instagrams’s :zaychishkastyle) and now I will be able to post any interesting fashion events live!!
