Hey everyone! Recently I attended the 39th annual Vancouver Wedding Fair (January 9th, 2016), held at the Westin Bayshore hotel in Coal Harbour. It wasn’t a boring experience I enjoyed it, and even I walked away with some inspiration. I know some of you might be curious to know what a wedding fair event might be like! So in this post I have photos, tips, information, wedding trends for 2016, and all that good stuff to help you decide if this is an event you should pencil in on your calendar!
What To Expect:
First and foremost you will need comfortable shoes when attending a wedding exhibit, because you might spend 4-5 hours and upwards here. There are hundreds of wedding booths that are dedicated to dresses, flowers, decor, venues, destination weddings, wedding cakes and desserts, etc! There is also a fashion show of all the latest wedding dresses, and yes! Outfits for grooms, bridesmaids, ring bearers, and flower girls. ( Psst You’ll also be allowed to purchase alcohol to drink amongst your group while watching the dresses on the runway.) Also expect to enter a lot of contests, and one lucky bride will walk away with the grand prize: a $100,000 dream wedding.
Side note: Don’t tell your husband to be’s this part, but if you bring him to the fashion show, he might get called up on stage to show off his runway walk to win a prize. It’s embarrassing, and fun for the audience. Plus I can’t forget the moment when one groom told his bride to be, jokingly of course that he hated her, once he made a return from the runway to his seat. He was laughing, and a little embarrassed!
What To Bring:
Some of the things that you should bring to make use out of attending Vancouver’s Wedding fair include:
- A date book/calendar to schedule any appointments that you might make. (& there is a designated area for brides to sit down to write down anything they need to to help in the planning process)
- A debit/credit card and even cash if you are to set, or hold any appointment dates, or choose to buy something from the fair.
- Bring labels with you that include your name, phone number, email address and date of your wedding, to make entering contests easier for you. Almost all of the booths have a contest, or discounts waiting for you.
- Comfortable shoes!
- A camera, just to help you remember what you saw!
- Family members, girlfriends and even your fiancé!
What You’ll Get:
Besides the chance to win your dream wedding, be prepared to receive a lot of business cards, brochures, & booklets. (A lot of booths will give you bags to put your brochures in) You’ll also get to sample wedding desserts. I sampled a lot of mini cupcakes and macaroons. You’ll also walk away with a lot of inspiration and ideas to help you make your wedding perfect!
Trending For Weddings In 2016:
At the wedding fair some of the noticeable wedding trends were the Flower wall (picture included below), large centrepieces with florals, skinny vases, macaroons, candy bars and lights in the shape of a heart. Wedding photo booths, and food trucks also are back on trend.
More Info:
Wedding fair happens on back to back consecutive days, so you can attend the event twice within a weekend! It also happens in the winter, and in the springtime! + You can also buy discounted wedding dresses, bridesmaids, and flower girl dresses etc, just putting that out there! I hope you enjoyed the post, and don’t forget to check out the photos below.
