Privet Matryoshka’s Paris Fashion Week is lashing out with a vengeance- it’s everywhere!! Guests who attended Ulyana Sergeenko’s couture show on January 21st, 2014, watched models walk a runway that took the form of a sleeper car; that one might see on a train. The Russian Designer’s Spring-Summer 2014 collection told guests a story, and reflected the culture, and nature of three former Soviet Republics: Kazakhstan, Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan.
With the designers penchant for all things vintage; the vintage inspired travel by train theme came to life- so did the culture of the former Soviet Republics, in the oriental motifs of delicate silks (noticeably the narrow silk bands on the pants) hats, and accessories used. My favourite accessory being the hand-held luggage.
Not only did Ulyana Sergeenko’s collection cross borders, but also crossed from womenswear and into menswear. The menswear apparel was said to be inspired by the men she [Ulyana] met on her travels, + she added feminine details as a twist. Guests who attended Ulyana’s show were: Elena Perminova, Miroslava Duma, Ekaterina Mukhina, and, Ksenia Sobchak- to name a few.
